The Term 'PTCL' :

The Term 'EVDO' :

The Term 'Evdo' can be defined as Evolution-Data Optimized or Evolution-Data only, it is often abbreviated as EV-DO or EVDO

or in some conditions as EV.

EVDO in Detail :

Evdo is a wireless telecommunication standard, actually it is the advanced version of CDMA 2000[Often also recognized as (IS-2000) ].

The main purpose of the development of EVDO was to support high data rates of transfer, EVDO feature of CDMA 2000 network

provide speeds of upto 3.1Mbit/s(Downloading), while it can support the uploading at the maximum of 1.8Mbit/s.

USE Of EVDO:

It is typically used for broadband internet access.

EVDO in Pakistan:

Evdo in Pakistan was started with Worldcall Evdo services in Karachi at beta, which later didn't satisfied the needs of the customers, though still they are working

Right now they have two packages

Package 1 (no CPE cost) -

Unlimited access: Monthly service charge: Rs.2500 (first year) and Rs. 2000 from second year onwards.

No initial charges required and the charges will be billed with PTCL landline bill.

Package 2 - Unlimited access:

Initial CPE charge : Rs.4000

Monthly service charges : Rs.2000 for unlimited access

Monthly service charges will be billed with PTCL landline bill.

Note: If you don't have PTCL Landline bill or you don't want to pay with your telephone bill, you can then either pay monthly amount

advance to one of their authorized dealers.

P.S. You can't get the CPE on this option.

Reviews for PTCL Evdo services.

The speed they are offering is no where near 3.1mbps i.e. 3000 kbps its about 300-500 kbps i.e downloading of 50-60 kbps average and if good speeds 100kbps, still its useless i'm really dissapointed, (i have no signal problem, full signals)
